🍽️ Sausage in Brown Sauce Recipe
🧂 Ingredients:
For the sausages:

6–8 pork sausages (Cumberland, bratwurst, or your favorite kind)

1 tbsp oil (vegetable or olive)
For the brown sauce:

1 large onion, thinly sliced

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tbsp plain flour

2 cups (500 ml) beef or chicken stock

2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp soy sauce
-
1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)

1 tsp brown sugar (optional, for sweetness)

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh thyme or parsley for garnish (optional)

Cook the sausages:

Heat the oil in a skillet or saucepan over medium heat.

Add the sausages and brown them on all sides. Remove from the pan and set aside (they don’t need to be fully cooked at this stage).

Make the sauce:

In the same pan, add the sliced onions and cook until softened and golden (about 8–10 minutes).

Add garlic and cook for another minute.

Stir in the flour and cook for 1–2 minutes to form a roux.

Add liquids:

Gradually add the stock, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.

Stir in Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, mustard, and sugar.

Bring to a gentle simmer and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Simmer with sausages:

Return sausages to the pan.

Cover and simmer on low heat for 15–20 minutes, or until sausages are fully cooked and the sauce has thickened.
