🥩 Beef à la Lindstrøm Recipe

🧂 Ingredients

500g (about 1 lb) ground beef

1/2 cup cooked or pickled beets, finely chopped or grated

2 tbsp capers, chopped

1 small onion, finely diced

2 tbsp pickles or cornichons, finely chopped (optional but traditional)

1 egg
-
2 tbsp breadcrumbs
-
1 tbsp butter + oil for frying

Salt and pepper, to taste
🍳 Instructions

Prepare the Mixture
In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, beets, capers, onion, pickles, egg, and breadcrumbs. Season with salt and pepper. Mix until well combined, but don’t overwork the meat. -
Shape the Patties
Form the mixture into 4 even-sized patties (about 1–1.5 cm thick). -
Cook the Patties
Heat butter and a splash of oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Cook the patties for 4–5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. -
Rest and Serve
Let the patties rest a couple of minutes before serving.

📝 Notes

You can use canned pickled beets or boil your own and add a splash of vinegar for tang.

These patties are sometimes finished in the oven if thicker.
