Here’s a fun and festive recipe for DIY Santa Oreos! These adorable Santa-themed treats are perfect for holiday parties or as a fun activity with kids.
DIY Santa Oreos
Ingredients
- 1 package of Oreos (or any sandwich cookies)
- 1 cup white chocolate or white candy melts
- 1/2 cup red candy melts
- Mini marshmallows (for Santa’s hat pom-poms)
- Mini chocolate chips or black decorating gel (for Santa’s eyes)
- Red and pink M&M’s or red round sprinkles (for Santa’s nose)
- Shredded coconut (optional, for Santa’s beard)
- Parchment paper
Instructions
1. Melt the Chocolate:
- In separate microwave-safe bowls, melt the white chocolate and red candy melts in 15-20 second intervals, stirring in between until smooth.
2. Dip for Santa’s Hat and Beard:
- Dip half of each Oreo into the white chocolate to create Santa’s beard. Set on a parchment-lined baking sheet to harden slightly.
- Once the white chocolate is set, dip the opposite top quarter of the Oreo into the red candy melts to make Santa’s hat. Place back on the baking sheet.
3. Add Santa’s Hat Details:
- While the red chocolate is still soft, press a mini marshmallow on the side of the “hat” for the pom-pom.
4. Add the Eyes and Nose:
- Use mini chocolate chips or a small dot of black decorating gel for Santa’s eyes.
- Place a red or pink M&M or sprinkle in the center for Santa’s nose.
5. Optional Beard Detail:
- While the white chocolate is still soft, sprinkle a little shredded coconut onto the beard area for a fluffy look.
6. Let Set:
- Allow the decorated Oreos to cool completely until the chocolate is fully set. You can place them in the refrigerator to speed up this process.
Recipe Notes
- Storage: Store Santa Oreos in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
- Customization: You can also add a little edible glitter for an extra festive touch or use colored sprinkles for the hat trim.
