🧂 Homemade Salty Crackers
Ingredients:
-
1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
-
1/2 tsp salt (plus more for sprinkling on top)
-
2 tbsp (30ml) vegetable oil or melted butter
-
1/4 cup (60ml) water (add more if needed)
-
Optional: 1/4 tsp baking powder for a slightly puffier texture
-
Optional toppings: sea salt, herbs, sesame seeds, garlic powder, etc.
Instructions:
-
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
Mix dry ingredients: In a bowl, combine flour, salt, and baking powder (if using).
-
Add oil and water: Pour in the oil and water. Stir until the dough comes together. It should be soft but not sticky. Add a little more water or flour if needed.
-
Roll it out: On a floured surface, roll the dough out very thin—about 1/16 inch (1.5 mm). The thinner, the crispier.
-
Cut into shapes: Use a knife or pizza cutter to cut into squares, rectangles, or desired shapes. Prick each cracker with a fork to prevent puffing.
-
Salt & bake: Place crackers on the baking sheet. Lightly brush with water or oil and sprinkle with coarse salt or other toppings.
-
Bake for 10–15 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp. Keep an eye on them—thin crackers can burn quickly.
-
Cool & store: Let cool completely before storing in an airtight container. They’ll stay crispy for several days.
